What we measure
The free test checks your home page on a phone and answers three questions. Here is what each result means, in plain words.
Question 1 of 3
Is your site fast on a phone?
A slow page can lose visitors before they read anything.
Performance
How quickly your home page loads and responds on a phone. Scored out of 100.
Good 90 to 100
How we check
A mobile Google Lighthouse test. It simulates a phone on a slower mobile connection.
Largest Contentful Paint
How many seconds pass before the main content of the page appears.
Good 2.5 s or less
How we check
Lighthouse times how long the largest image or block of text in view takes to show on screen.
Question 2 of 3
Can search engines read it?
Search engines need a few basics in place before they can list your pages.
SEO
Whether the page has the basics search engines look for. Scored out of 100.
Good 90 to 100
How we check
Lighthouse checks basics such as a page title, a page description, links search engines can follow, and that the page is not blocked from search.
Best Practices
Whether the page is built in a safe, current way. Scored out of 100.
Good 90 to 100
How we check
Lighthouse checks things like a secure connection, no errors in the browser, and images shown at the right size.
Accessibility
Whether people with disabilities can use the page, for common problems a test can find. Scored out of 100. A high score is not a WCAG or ADA compliance result.
Good 90 to 100
How we check
Lighthouse checks for common problems such as low-contrast text, images without descriptions, and form fields without labels.
HTTPS
Whether the page uses a secure connection, the padlock in the browser. Yes or No.
Good Yes
How we check
Lighthouse checks that the page loads over HTTPS.
Question 3 of 3
Can AI tools read it?
Answer engines and AI tools such as Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude need to reach your pages and understand your business.
AEO readiness
Answer engine optimization. Two checks: AI and search crawlers are allowed in, and your text is in the page itself, not loaded by scripts. Shown as checks passed out of 2.
Our standard 2 of 2 checks passed
How we check
Crawlers allowed: we read your robots.txt file, the file that tells crawlers where they may go, and check that Googlebot, Google-Extended (Gemini app), Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, and Claude-SearchBot may reach the page. Text without scripts: we read the page HTML before any script runs and look for a main heading and at least 100 words.
GEO readiness
Generative engine optimization. Two checks: the page labels who you are and what you do in a form machines read, and your site has a working list of its pages. Shown as checks passed out of 2.
Our standard 2 of 2 checks passed
How we check
Structured data: we look for schema.org labels in the page, as JSON-LD or microdata. Sitemap: we look for a working sitemap listed in robots.txt or at /sitemap.xml.
How to read your result
- Good Needs improvement Poor Where each speed and search score lands on Google’s scale. Scores: 90 to 100 good, 50 to 89 needs improvement, 0 to 49 poor. Largest Contentful Paint: 2.5 s or less good, up to 4.0 s needs improvement, over 4.0 s poor. The mobile test is strict, so many sites that feel fast score below 90.Source: Chrome for Developers, Lighthouse scoring; web.dev, Largest Contentful Paint.
- Meets target Below target Shown on AEO and GEO readiness. Our standard is 2 of 2 checks passed in each, on every site we launch.
- Not measured The test could not read that value. We never show 0 or a blank in its place.
- Results can move a few points between tests, because each test is a new run. Each result shows the date and time of its test.
What the free test does not measure
- Whether AI tools cite or mention you. No tool can measure that from a web address.
- Search rankings, traffic, leads, or sales.
- When your pages were last updated, such as the copyright year and the Last-Modified date. A browser test cannot read them.
