What does Site Refine AI do?

We modernize, rebuild, and optimize company websites. We work to maximize your SEO score, and we make sure search engines and AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude can read every page. We measure each site before and after, and we report what we find.

Who do you work with?

Businesses and organizations in any industry, wherever they are located. See the Portfolio for sites we have built.

Do I need a new website, or can you fix the one I have?

It depends on the site. The SEO optimization and AEO and GEO optimization packages work on the site you have. The website rebuild replaces it. The free site test and a free consultation help you decide.

What is the free site test?

The Measure my site box on the home page runs a mobile Google Lighthouse test of the address you enter. It shows Performance, Largest Contentful Paint, SEO, Best Practices, Accessibility, and HTTPS, plus our AEO and GEO readiness checks. We save the address you enter.

What is the free consultation?

A conversation about your website and what you need. Send the form on the Free Consultation page, email sales@siterefine.ai, or call (513) 601-8963.

Who is behind Site Refine AI?

Site Refine AI is led by founder Nick Gavin, who has 15 years in enterprise technology, including SAP and Workday, and now focuses on AI. Our team also brings more than 10 years of experience designing and launching websites and SEO strategies for hundreds of clients. See About.

Where are you based?

Cincinnati, OH. We work with businesses wherever they are located.

Section 2 of 5

SEO, AEO, and GEO

What the terms mean, in plain words.

6 questions

What is SEO?

Search engine optimization. It makes each page easy for search engines like Google and Bing to crawl, understand, and list. We check it with the Lighthouse SEO score.

What is AEO?

Answer engine optimization. It makes your pages easy for answer engines, such as Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, and Perplexity, to read. We check two things: their crawlers are allowed in, and your text is in the page, not loaded by scripts.

What is GEO?

Generative engine optimization. It makes the facts about your business clear to AI tools: who you are, what you do, and where. We check two things: structured data and a working sitemap.

What is the difference between AEO and GEO?

AEO asks whether answer engines can reach and read your pages. GEO asks whether the facts about your business are clear to AI tools. Each has two checks, and our standard is 2 of 2 checks passed in each, on every site we launch. See What we measure for the exact rule behind each check.

Do I still need SEO now that people use AI tools?

Yes. Google says: “There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary.” The basics that help regular Search also help Google's AI features. Google also still handles most searches: 89.9% worldwide in September 2026.

Do I need special structured data to show up in AI Overviews?

No. Google says: “There’s also no special schema.org structured data that you need to add.” We still add structured data to every page, because it states who you are and what you do in a form machines can read. Our GEO check looks for it.

Section 3 of 5

AI tools and your site

Crawlers, citations, and what you control.

5 questions

Can you get us cited in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, or Perplexity?

We cannot promise a citation. Those systems decide on their own what to cite, and no tool can measure citations from a URL. What we do is remove what stops them: we let their crawlers in, put your text in the page, and label your business in a form machines read. In our work for clients, these steps have improved their chances of being cited by AI tools.

Which crawlers does your AEO check look at?

Googlebot, Google-Extended (Gemini app), Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, and Claude-SearchBot. The check reads your robots.txt file and passes when all of them may reach the page.

Should I block AI crawlers?

That is your choice. Some crawlers feed search results and some collect training data, and you can treat them differently. OpenAI uses OAI-SearchBot for ChatGPT search and GPTBot for training. Anthropic uses Claude-SearchBot for search and ClaudeBot for training. Google-Extended controls Gemini training and grounding and does not affect Google Search. Blocking GPTBot or ClaudeBot, which collect training data, does not fail our AEO check. Blocking a crawler on our list does.

Do all AI tools follow robots.txt?

The crawlers that build search indexes do. Fetchers that run when a person asks about a page may not. Perplexity says its Perplexity-User fetcher generally ignores robots.txt, because a person asked for the page.

Can I keep my content out of Google's AI Overviews?

Yes, with the same controls that limit snippets in regular Search: nosnippet, data-nosnippet, max-snippet, or noindex. Google explains them in its AI features guide. These controls also limit how your page shows in regular Search, so weigh that before you use them.

Measurement and results

What we measure, and what we do not promise.

7 questions

What do you measure?

Speed, on-page readiness, AEO and GEO readiness, and staleness. Each is reported on its own. See What we measure.

What results can I expect?

Every site we launch passes every AEO and GEO readiness check. We measure each speed and search score before and after, and show where it lands on Google’s scale: 90 to 100 is good, 50 to 89 needs improvement, and 0 to 49 is poor. The mobile test is strict, so many sites that feel fast score below 90. Our own site measured 100 Performance and 100 SEO.

What is Largest Contentful Paint?

The time it takes for the largest image or block of text in view to appear on screen. Google’s web.dev guide rates 2.5 seconds or less as good and more than 4.0 seconds as poor.

Source: web.dev, Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. Google says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking.

Do you promise more traffic, leads, or sales?

No. We promise that every site we launch passes every AEO and GEO readiness check, and we measure every score before and after. Traffic, leads, and sales depend on many things outside the website. For clients we have done this work for, lead flow rose between 24% and 167% after launch. Results vary.

What does Not measured mean?

A value the test could not read, for example when a site blocks the test. We show Not measured instead of 0 or a blank, so you never see a number we did not measure.

Why can my results change between tests?

Each test is a new run. Network and server timing change from run to run, so scores can move a few points. Every result shows the date and time of its test.
